People often ask me where my quirky sense of humor comes from. I was born with it. As a kid I was fascinated with movies, comic books and offbeat magazines. My father and I used to stay up all night and watch Creature Feature late shows and then the next day I would draw or act out the characters we had seen the night before.

Although I participated in extracurricular school activities, the academics never interested me. I preferred to spend time drawing movie scenes rather than working on math problems. When I was 5 years old my grandmother entered one of my drawings in a contest for the San Francisco Chronicle. I won. There was no turning back.

My parents were supportive of my aspirations to become an artist. They were quite involved too. My father and I painted murals together on my bedroom walls. During high school my hobby clearly became my future.

After a few false starts wih menial jobs and Junior colleges, I headed off to the Art Institute of Seattle. Artist Bruce Sharp became my instructor and my mentor. His confidence in me was one of things that pushed me in my attempt to succeed as an illustrator. My non-traditional style was outside the box and many tried to dissuade me from pursing it. However, to me, art is a reflection of the person painting and my work represents my warped views of the world.

Seattle is not all flannel, rain and grunge music. It is also a mecca for the computer gaming industry. To support my fledgling freelance career I jumped from one game company to another. I learned skills that I have carried over into my more personal work. I have recently started to incorporate 3-D elements to my paintings. I have been working with Washington DC representative Donna Rosen for several years now. Despite the fact that my work is often described as "Rockwell on Acid" I have had the pleasure of working for companies such as Coldwell Banker, Wampler Foods, Dow Chemicals, Discovery, AAA, Erie Insurance, Sports Illustrated, the FBI, etc. I am happy to be working in the field that I love. I hope to continue long into the future.
